Chanda M is the nom de plume of Mona Lissa Chanda, an artist who’s journey is filled with delicious paradoxes that fuel her creativity. She is also a Ph.D. in Psychology practicing her first love—music and poetry. Driven by this dual passion for music and sciences, she worked as a researcher at McGill University and published papers on the neurochemistry of music together with New York Times best-selling author Dr. Daniel J. Levitin. As a trained classical and jazz singer, Mona Lissa has performed on many local stages (e.g. House Of Jazz, Upstairs Bar & Grill, Just For Laughs Festival) and collaborated with Juno Award-winning producer, Rob Heaney (Cirque du Soleil, Patrick Watson). In collaboration with Heaney, she recorded the 2013 indie folk rock EP Tip of My Tongue under the name Mona Lissa & The Brink. Critics praised the EP, comparing it to Sarah Brightman’s acclaimed 1993 album “Dive”.
Surfing this wave of attention, Chanda M solidifies her identity as a professional artist with the launch of her debut EP Icons of Dreams, built on themes revolving around the desire for love and connection.
