Fredric Gary Comeau is a singer-songwriter, novelist, poet and painter originally from the Nepisiguit Bay area of Northern New Brunswick in Canada. He is now based in Montreal.

As a child, Comeau never had any doubts about what he wanted to do when he grew up. On his seventh birthday, he received two gifts from his parents; His first guitar and his first typewriter. His parents understood that the thing he most wanted to be able to do in this life was to tell stories, using whatever tool or medium that was available to him. The music he loved as a child was often created by gifted storytellers. Thanks to his father, he discovered the two great Hanks (Williams and Snow), as well as Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris and many others. Thanks to his mother, he discovered the Beatles, the Beach Boys, the Rolling Stones. A little later on he grew to love the work of Jim Croce, Gordon Lightfoot, Bruce Cockburn, Bruce Springsteen, Richie Havens, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen.

Fredric Gary Comeau's career began in 1991 with the publication of his first of fifteen collections of poetry. His first of four critically-acclaimed albums of songs was released at the end of that same decade. He has also published two novels since 2013 and exhibited his paintings in various cities since 1992. Comeau is also the lead singer of the band Atréal and vocalist for The Kerouac Project.

Currently at work on two new collections of poetry, his first play, an upcoming painting exhibit, and a new novel, Comeau is also preparing the release of his fifth studio album.
