Maud Evelyne (formerly known as Evelyne Lavoie) sings in French about loss, love, stars and unicorns, amongst others. A unique voice in the landscape of Montreal’s emerging chanson scene, her soaring melodies and crafty songwriting reminds of Joni Mitchell or Martha Wainwright, but with a touch of melancholy and fantasy just her own. Classically trained in piano and a lover of ukulele, she appeared in major Quebec festivals: Festival de la chanson de Granby (2017), Festival d’été de Québec (2015), Expo-Québec (2015), Bordeaux fête le vin à Québec (2015) as well as in the Nuit Blanche series of the Guelph Jazz Festival (2011). Maud Evelyne also opened for Québécois chanson artists such as Marc Déry, So Called, Ingrid Saint-Pierre and Diane Tell (2011-2012).
