Singer-songwriter and rapper, Shawn Jobin describes himself as a Samurai. Born a Franco-Saskatchewanian, Jobin’s affection for Francophone Canadian culture permeates his work. This cultural duality and his penchant to explore different styles of music has bred a unique musical identity integrating hip hop and electro.
Since age 15, Shawn began collecting awards and prestigious invitations, including the honour of being ambassador of Chant'Ouest 2013 in Victoria.
This same year also marked the launch of his debut EP, composed of four titles, and the release of a music video for "Au nom d'une Nation (Tu m'auras Pas) “, which received the prize for the best videoclip at the Trille Or Gala. Shawn played multiple performances across Canada after being awarded the ROSEQ-RGE prize in the fall of 2016 (Tadoussac Chanson Festival, Franco-Fête in Toronto, Festival du Voyageur, Canada Games, etc.) and also visited festivals in Europe (Francofolies de SPA, Festival Pause Guitar, etc.)
In May 2017, Shawn Jobin launched his album Elephant, which was named one of the 35 must-see albums of mid-year 2017 by Ici Musique (Radio-Canada). Elephant was composed in collaboration with Mario Lepage (Ponteix) who performs alongside Jobin.
After more than a hundred performances, it's clear Shawn Jobin has a promising future ahead of him.
