At empire’s gloaming, Speedy foists his songs onto unwitting carousers with diabolical glee. Debauched gags and fey antics ensuing, hilarity crippling all the sick, ruddy guts, madness becomes contagious among ye listeners. Speedy's Wild Ride desecrates your noggin, coyly besmirching you with holy filth, the loud paroxysms of an irascible and demented angel.

Before It’s Dark is Speedy Johnson’s debut album, wherein he blends his love for folk, rock ‘n’ roll, and psychedelic music.  All the songs originate from a room, an acoustic guitar, a pen and notepad.  Speedy then employed the services of notable Montreal musicians. Ram Krishnan (The Unsettlers, Bad Uncle, Ol’ Savannah) laid down the drums, Kevin Moquin (Bad Uncle) played on electric guitar and synthesizers, and Shaun Ryan (Franco Proietti Morph-tet) took care of bass on all songs.  Guest appearances include Eli Camilo (Lemon Bucket Orkestra) on trombone and trumpet and Simone Leblanc (Tintamare) on saxophone.  None of this would have been possible without Alex Pépin (bassist for Joseph Edgar and Samuele) who engineered the album in its entirety at Domaine le Frolic.
