Born in La Tuque, Quebec, Sophie Villeneuve is a folk singer-songwriter who has been based in Whitehorse (Yukon) since 2013. Mixing storytelling and music, she transports her audience into her Yukon world inspired by nature and Northern adventures. In 2016, Sophie won the music competitionsPacifique en Chanson and Chant’Ouest in which she also obtained the Public's Choice Award. In 2017, Sophie was positively received by the critics after performing in the prestigious Festival International de la Chanson de Granby(FICG) music competition. On television, she has performed inPrise de Son with Eloi Painchaud and Jean-François Breau, as well as in Constellation Francophone where she collaborated with Lennie Gallant and Elisapie Isaac. Her atypical life path inspired Les Productions Rivard for an episode of the show Chacun Sa Route on TVA in 2017. Her debut self-titled EP was released in June 2017, and features five original tracks in both French and English.
