URBAN SCIENCE BRASS BAND re-invents hip-hop classics with the intensity and fire of a guerilla street performance. Imagine a New Orleans-style brass band - trumpets, saxophones, trombones, sousaphones, tubas - with a repertoire spanning Dr. Dre through Kendrick Lamar - complete with MCs on megaphones, marching band drummers, and street dancers. They are the hosts of the Montreal Hip-Hop Parade , a yearly secret event that takes to the streets and surprises the public with a parade convoy representing the totality of the Montreal hip-hop scene, from MCs and musical groups to beatmakers, producers, and DJs, to graffiti crews to radio shows and many more.

Featuring some of the city’s most sought-after musicians, they have performed and/or recorded with such artists as Talib Kweli, Nelly, KRS-One, Illa J, Snarky Puppy, Erik Truffaz, Bran Van 3000, and Imhothep (IAM). Notable achievements amongst its members are 2016 world champion of End of the Weak, 6-time King of the Dot champion, an appearance on the Tonight Show, and artist sponsorships from Soultone Cymbals and Dream Cymbals.

URBAN SCIENCE BRASS BAND has been holding down Jazz Festival residencies since 2017. They are featured in the Amazon Prime documentary “Vacations of the Brave”. They are an off-shoot project of URBAN SCIENCE #LECYPHER .
