Elephant Stone, the psych-pop project of Rishi Dhir, emerged more than twelve years ago and has since established itself as an international reference in the genre. Joined by longtime collaborators Miles Dupire (drums) and Robbie MacArthur (guitar), along with touring member Jason Kent (keys/guitar), Dhir has crafted a unique sonic universe where psychedelic textures, pop sensibilities, and spiritual sitar flourishes intertwine.

The band has released several critically acclaimed albums and toured extensively across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia—headlining their own shows as well as supporting icons such as The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Zombies, and The Black Angels.

With Back Into the Dream (February 2024), their sixth studio album, Elephant Stone invites listeners on a cosmic journey through the realms of consciousness and imagination. The result is a sonic odyssey that is both mesmerizing and introspective, cementing the band’s reputation as creators of music that is at once psychedelic and profoundly human.

This thematic exploration continues the trajectory of Hollow, the band’s previous concept album, where Dhir—featuring vocals from his daughter—contemplated the planet’s decline and humanity’s survival. As he explained to CJLO, Side A traced the chronology of the world’s destruction, while Side B unraveled a narrative of humanity’s adaptation in extraordinary times.

Building on this, the track “M. Lonely” shifts the focus toward individual survival and its repercussions on the community—if indeed such a community still exists. With Back Into the Dream, Elephant Stone carries forward its visionary exploration, delivering a body of work that is intimate, expansive, and universal.
