FRANKY SELECTOR

Born into a multicultural family and raised in Florida, multi-instrumentalist Franky Selector was immersed early on in a wide range of sounds: his father’s jazz and classical record collection, the funk and Afro-Cuban grooves of 70s roller skaters, and his mother’s love of French chanson. A pianist since the age of five, he honed his passion for performance through garage bands before co-founding Skyjuice, a Montreal band that made waves in the 90s, sharing stages with Ben Harper, The Herbaliser, The Groove Collective, and The Band. The group later moved to New York and was signed to Dream Factory Records by Mathieu Bitton (Lenny Kravitz, Prince).

Back in Montreal, Franky deepened his studio and production skills, composing original scores for internationally broadcast TV series (MayDay, OuiSurf, BouffeMTL). Alongside, he collaborated with artists such as Bran Van 3000, The Brooks, Fwonte, and Banda Maje, while establishing himself as a rare groove DJ, notably at Phish after-parties in the US and Mexico.

As a solo artist, he released Under The Midnight Sun and later Shabby Chic (2018), praised by critics as a refreshing blend of vintage analog and modern digital sounds. Tours followed across Canada and Europe, especially Italy, where he forged lasting ties with the local funk scene. In 2020, he dropped Never Better, a luminous record of infectious grooves, followed by the collaborative Italians Do It Never Better (2021), cementing his transatlantic presence.

His upcoming album Odeon (March 2025) continues this dialogue between old instruments and modern textures, balancing melancholy and sunny grooves. With shows scheduled in Italy, Switzerland, and France, Franky Selector stands out as a singular craftsman of Future Vintage, at the crossroads of words, rhythms, and emotions.
