LYDOL

Lydol, the first slam poet finalist for the RFI Discovery Prize, has proven her name and her discipline: slam, in Cameroon and across Africa. She was recognized by the U.S. State Department as a Mandela Washington Fellow 2024 African Young Leader. Recently in Residence for Creation in Montreal, Canada, and at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, she has gained attention for her slam performances at prestigious international events. Designated Ambassador of the Africa-European Union Collaboration in 2022.

Her discography includes 2 albums: Hybride, SlamTherapy; two EPs: Fragile and Elixir; and several singles. With over 1,000,000 followers across social networks, it was her performance on the stage of “Africa's Got Talent” that brought her to the attention of the general public.

Winner of Afro Urbain Artist at Canal 2or, she organized a sold-out concert in Paris in July 2023. Lydol continues to tour African and European stages while promoting festivals PluriElles, Slam’Up, and the Cameroon Science Slam competition launched in 2015. She is also the founder of the SHEroes Association, which supports women and girls who have suffered violence. A multi-talented artist, she now blends other disciplines into her shows. She embodies her texts in a theatrical and musical way. A cappella or accompanied by musicians, she does not hesitate to dance on stage, a means of popularizing slam with broader audiences and stepping beyond intimate settings.

Lydol’s artistic approach is accompanied by an educational ambition. A doctoral candidate in economic sciences, the artist keeps youth in mind. Her high-spirited writing workshops Style haut à stylo lead her to coach new voices.
